A Day in the Life- mother + graduate student

Let’s be truthful for a moment… Being a mother is hard! The fears and issues for our babies are endless. Are they getting enough sleep? Are they getting enough exercise? Am I teaching them enough? Are they experiencing enough? Is my house clean enough? Am I loving on them enough? Is the neighborhood safe enough? The list goes on and on….

Every day we wake up and try to tackle the list, but by bedtime, the list is getting revised and re-organized because with motherhood there is no predictability. The check marks of completion are far and few.

There is one thing I can check off each day though. Nutrition!

How Enfamil® NeuroPro™ became Our formula of Choice!

I was a full-time breastfeeding mother but, as you may recall in this article, I needed to start to supplement my baby’s diet with formula because I recently graduated and was getting ready to return to work.

At first, the thought of giving my baby formula concerned me.. Not to mention that as a new mother I pretty much panic about every decision that I make as a mother. See this parenting is NOT easy!

Thankfully my cousin introduced me to Enfamil® NeuroProâ„¢ formula. She had mentioned that she used Enfamil® with all three of her children and that her pediatrician had recommended it. I wasn’t completely sold after one recommendation though. So, I continued to think about it.

I thought about the reality of trying to pump enough milk for my sweet baby while trying to keep up with the demands my new busy work schedule was going to put on me. I realized that I didn’t want to have to have the added tension that pumping would inevitably cause.

I imply the reality would be that I would have to pump on every break and then come home, nurse and pump some more. I wanted to delight in being a mother. I wanted to be able to ease as much tension as I could. final decision- I was going to supplement all of the feedings while I was at work with formula.

With one decision down the next task was finding which formula to use. So, I started to research a little much more about the different types of formula on the market. I pulled up the Enfamil® site because my cousin was such a big fan of the brand, and I came across some information on Enfamil® NeuroPro™. It stated that NeuroPro has a fat-protein blend of MFGM and DHA previously found only in breast milk*. This intrigued me but I really had no idea what MFGM was.

Turns out MFGM is a pretty big deal. MFGM has been clinically shown to help close the gap in cognitive development between formula-fed and breastfed infants.** This was like music to my ears. I could give my daughter food that would nourish her brain and body while at the same time ensuring that I wasn’t going to be completely overwhelmed and exhausted.

With one decision down I was ready to tackle my next hurdle- choosing the best bottle. In the beginning, we were using regular bottles which required the added task of cleaning all of them. No fun after a long day at work.

While running a quick errand at Walmart to grab some much more formula I happened to come across a Playtex Baby™ Nurser bottles with Drop-Ins® Liners starter set. The set had pre-sterilized liners which intrigued me. could this possibly be the answer?

Turns out YES! I am spending much less time cleaning the bottles now. closer to natural breastfeeding than other bottle systems, with the Naturalatch nipple on the Nurser bottle my baby has an simpler time switching between breast and bottle.

Fast forward to today and I have a happy, healthy baby. I am doing well at my new job, and although the adjustment to time away from her hasn’t been easy, I am confident that my daughter is getting the nutrition she needs through Enfamil® NeuroPro. Plus, I’m saving time on bottle washing which gives me much more time to delight in my daughter’s giggles!
