My daughter’s very first summertime wasn’t that awesome, to be honest. She was born on the 4th of July, so I was fat as well as sweaty all summer. I barely slept. Postpartum, I had huge breasts that were most likely visible from across the bay in San Francisco. I was terrified of being left alone with both of my own kids for much more than two hours.
